Words of Wisdom from a Cluttered Mind

Psalms 105:4:  Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.

This week, many of our students will be leaving behind their high school days and stepping forward towards the newest adventure that God has in store for them.  As I was reflecting on this great event, I began to think about a verse that might have helped me out as I left my home.  I think that Psalms 105:4 would have benefited me as young person out on my own.

When we graduate, we are expected to be grown-ups.  We are expected to make mature decisions, manage our time and our money, and face trials that may seem overwhelming.  If our graduates remember that God has the strength they need to face whatever comes their way, the trials will seem much more manageable.  If our graduates remember to seek his face ALWAYS, then they can take comfort in knowing that all things will work out according to His will.  This short verse seems great to a person who is graduating.

What about the rest of us?  How many times have we panicked in the face of a trial, forgetting how strong God really is?  Are there times in our lives that we did not ALWAYS seek His face?  I am constantly telling my students to remember to seek God in all situations, to count it all joy when we face trials.  Sometimes, I need to listen to myself.  Maybe we all could benefit from this verse.

As we prepare to say congrats to our grads, maybe we can also walk along side of them, not just reminding them to seek God ALWAYS, but by setting a great example as well.  And I am sure that our students would be more than willing to help us out as well.  After all, like iron sharpens iron…
