Favorite Christian Bands

These are my favorite bands, in no particular order with a must listen to track included, as well as an explanation as to why I like them. You may not like this list, or you may like it, but have a different must listen to song from a certain band. I would love to hear your list and songs as well, so please feel free to email me your favorites at dwhiteman@northridgehc.com.

1) Michael W. Smith. Before he was one of the best praise and worship leaders we have had, he was a pop icon. Yes, the song Friends was his most popular song, but take a listen to the song Place In This World. It was a great pop song that also had some secular air play.

2) Rend Collective. This is a great Irish praise and worship band. They have a folk-rock feel to them and bring a lot of energy to the table. Check out the song Joy to hear some great, foot-stomping music.

3) Keith Green. This is one of the greatest songwriters that Christian music has ever had, in my opinion. He was a powerful singer who always seemed to put God first. At one concert he actually stopped his show because people were chanting his name instead of giving glory to God. Check out There Is A Redeemer to hear one of my all-time favorite Christian songs.

4) Phil Wickham. Just an amazing musician with a great voice and an amazing way of communicating God’s message of love. Check out the song You’re Beautiful to hear the gospel message put to music.

5) Sanctus Real. Just great worship music. Check out the song Pray. It really hits where we live.

Ok, so most who know me this is not all that I listen to, so here are some songs and groups to check out if you are feeling bold.

Lecrae: Say I Won’t.

Skillet: Hero

Andy Mineo: Uno Uno Seis

Stryper: To Hell With The Devil

Christafari: Everlasting God

So, that’s my list…what does yours look like? Who are you listening to right now?

Stepping out in Faith,

Derrick
